A beach with history

Cerro Brujo ("Wizard Hill") is an eroded tuff cone on the northwest coast of San Cristóbal, with one of the whitest beaches in Galápagos at its feet. San Cristóbal was the first island Charles Darwin set foot on in September 1835, and this coast was among the areas he explored aboard HMS Beagle.

What you will see

The sand is made of finely ground coral and shells, which keeps it pale and cool. Sea lions rest on the shore, blue-footed boobies dive in the bay and the lagoon behind the beach sometimes hosts herons and stilts. The calm water is ideal for snorkeling with turtles and rays, with Kicker Rock on the horizon.
